Our pleated screen rides along a special chain that is housed in the Pull Bar (we also call it a Pull Rail). When you grab the Pull Bar to close the screen, the chain is fed out along the floor, and another chain is also fed out into the top track. So you can see that the amount of chain available to be fed out onto the floor is equal to about half the height of the Pull Bar. The exact formulas are shown below.
We have organized our screens into Styles as shown below. Using the height of your opening, you can determine which styles are available. But we have made our store quite simple to use. When you go to the price list and click on a size, it will show you the styles available for that size.
Style #1 – Side To Side Pleated Screen
This style uses one Pull Bar and has limited applications. Using a typical door opening height of 80 inches, the maximum screen width is only 35 inches.
Style #2 & #3 – Side To Side Pleated Screen
These styles both use 2 Pull Bars. Style # 2 would be better suited to windy areas since there is a Pull Bar in the center when it is closed. Style #3 allows for a more wide open view.
Style #4 – Center Close Pleated Screen
This style uses two Pull Bars that meet in the center.
Style #5 – Side To Side Pleated Screen
This style is great for large folding walls where the last glass panel is used as a door. Style #5 has three Pull Bars, but we can add more of them for very wide openings.
Style #6 & #7 – Center Close Pleated Screen
Both of these style use 4 Pull Bars. They are great for large sliding doors with glass panels that meet in the center, as well as folding walls that meet in the center. Style #6 would suit a more windy environment while style #7 offers a more open view.
Style #8 – Center Close Pleated Screen
For the biggest openings! Style #8 can handle your largest opening. Using a 96″ high opening as an example: (96 – 10) / 2 * 6 = 258″ maximum width!
Note: Although our diagrams indicate 118″ as the maximum height, we can actually produce screens to 120″
